Sustainable Livelihoods Foundation NPC About Us At SLF, we aim to strengthen marginalized communities for development impact. We build insights to understand needs and priorities, interconnect people to grow opportunities and co-create strategies to foster positive change. Research Projects UKRI GCRF: Water & Fire This 3-year research project aimed to directly address disaster risk management of three interconnected environmental hazards related to water and fire in marginalized, urban Cape Town communities. We tested new methods of complementary democratic and creative engagement to advocate community-driven solutions and resilience action in response to such hazards. The project brought together principles of disaster risk management with the democratic prioritization of risk reduction at a local level, while developing intervention strategies and sharing findings with local government and other stakeholders through a community-driven coproduced process.
